Madison installs a rain garden, a stormwater management measure anyone can build in their lawns

MADISON – Like Chef Auguste Gusteau from Dreamworks film “Ratatouille” would say that “anyone can cook,” stormwater expert Chris Obropta says that anyone can build a rain garden in their home.

The gardens include rocks and native plants in a small ditch called a “swale” along with a pipe for excess water. In the case of the new rain garden at the Madison Public Library, the water will go to the borough’s storm sewer.
